Where to eat?

In a region defined by its valleys and meadows, you can not miss on their tables, a wide and varied sample of the products of its generous garden. The star of Benavente’s vegetable garden is the  The red bell pepper, which is exalted in the regional fair of this product that takes place every year at the end of September.

Among the representative dishes of the Valleys, we find the Tera trout, the codfish a lo tío or a la cazuela, los crabs and frog legs. Not forgetting the succulent roasts roasted in a wood oven, such as the  toast and the suckling lamb.

Among the agri-food products that enjoy fame and quality are the cheeses included in the “Queso Zamorano” Denomination of Origin, the sausages, the honey and the liqueurs.

Special mention should be made of the quality of the convent sweets, such as the rosquillas de ángel and the Cistercian cake.

As for the wines   there is a wide range of qualities, from the full-bodied claret wines of Vidriales, whose production involves the white and red fruit of the vines, to the sparkling wines and the young and crianza red wines. Wines that have “Denominación de Origen Valles de Benavente”. The winemaking tradition has its example in the region in the multitude of existing family wineries in all the municipalities of the region.
