Monument to Don Quixote de la Mancha

It was installed in December 2005 as Benavente’s contribution to the IV Centenary of the publication of this work by Cervantes. It is located in one of the traffic circles of access to the city located in Federico Silva Avenue.

In the work are represented the symbols or elements that are characteristic of this character of universal literature, such as the lance in shipyard, the bieldo or bacina, etc., while Don Alonso Quijano holds in one of his hands perhaps one of those books of novels of chivalry to which the character was so fond of, or perhaps a copy of Cervantes’ own work of which he is the protagonist.
