Monument to the Veguilla (Patron Saint of Benavente)

Work of the sculptor and sculptor Ricardo Flecha, it is installed in one of the traffic circles of access to the city. This monument of small dimensions rests on a pedestal for its greater enhancement. The sculpture reproduces the small image of the Virgen de la Vega with the Child in her lap, on a bridge and flanked by two towers that represent the two fortresses that Benavente had (the stately and the council). This as a symbol or allegory of the fortress of the ancient town and the legendary Marian intervention on the occasion of the battle of Polvoraria during the Reconquest. It was inaugurated in 2015.
